"How to Have a Good Day Every Day"
I have learned that in order to have a good day, you need to start before even getting out of bed. About two weeks ago, I decided to take a Yoga class, something that I usually don't do, because I'm working. That day, however, my singing partner in my "Point 02 Duo" was sick, and could not perform at MidTown Wine Bar. I had the night off, and I went to Yoga. There was a new instructor, who was subbing for the regular teacher. She taught us, before we started the class, that sometimes we need to remind our bodies that everything is going to be OK. All we have to do is, take the time to breathe in slowly. We take five deep breaths, and we count five seconds in.... and five seconds out..... five seconds in.... and five seconds out.... It made me feel very relaxed and in control.
So now I practice this exercise before I get out of bed. I wake up and take five deep breaths, and I visualize something that makes me feel good, like the ocean, or my furry little babies (my dogs). Then I start thinking about how good my bed feels, and I'm appreciative.
Then I get out of bed and I feel happy, It seems like my whole day is in alignment, and that it is a good day. When we wake up, and the first thing we think about is all the chores and tasks that we don't want to do, and feel all our aches and pains from our body and mind, it seems like when we get out of bed at that point, our whole day seems to go downhill.
I have done this exercise for a few months, and I finally have appreciated how the power of the mind really works. Imagine what we could accomplish if we put our minds to it.
Life is what we make it.
To be continued....
